What do I receive with my new puppy?

At Sonshine Acres we do our best to provide new puppy owners with a healthy puppy. As part of this commitment all puppies are accompanied by a 30-day health guarantee. Also included is the Certificate of Veterinarian Exam, Health record documenting all vaccines and dewormers, Purina ProPlan Starter Kit and registration form. The puppy is microchipped and you will receive  microchip registry  information.

CVI (Certificate of Veterinarian Exam)

All puppies have their first veterinarian exam at 7-8 weeks of age and every 30 days thereafter as they wait to become your new furry friend. You will receive a copy of the certificate stating the puppy’s name, and age at the time of the exam and any notations of the veterinarian.

Please Note: out-of-state transactions require additional vet paperwork and often require a few days to get in place. For that paperwork we need your full name address, and phone number as well as the date you will be taking your new friend home.

Vaccine + Deworming Schedule

By eight weeks puppies have received the first two doses of Neo Par + Neo Vac Da2. the first Bordatella vaccine as well as our full spectrum deworming protocol. We continue building on the initial does and keep them current on all vaccines + dewormers until the day they leave.

You will receive a record of all vaccines, medications, and dewormers, Please take this along to your veterinarian. There are many options for vaccine protocols and parasite control. Your veterinarian can assist you with setting up a protocol for you and your new furry friend.

Purina Pro Plan Puppy Food

Purina Pro Plan chicken and rice puppy food blend is a highly digestible formula full of antioxidants, DHA, calcium, and high-quality proteins. In order to give our puppies the essential, nutritional building blocks for healthy growth and development we introduce them to Purina Pro Plan chicken + rice puppy food around 4 weeks of age. They are gradually weaned onto puppy food between 5-7 weeks of age. Because young puppies need lots of nutrition we choose to let them have access to their food 24/7.

Micro Chips

All puppies are microchipped and can be registered with the national microchip registry (NMR). You will need to register the microchip for ID to become active.

Crate and Potty Training

We do not offer any potty training. Most puppies have been exposed to the crate, usually very briefly. The following article, House Breaking Hints provides many helpful informative tips.

Tips for the first few days:

  • Most puppies transition well with the exception of loneliness at bedtime or when confined in their crate
or pen, giving them a blanket or stuffed animal to cuddle with can help alleviate some of this.
  • We have provided some of the food they’ve been eating, mix this with the food you have to help them
transition more easily. If your puppy is reluctant to eat you can try yogurt, either plain or as a top-dress to
their food. Other options would include cooked chicken, or canned dog/ puppy food.

Thanks again and best wishes!
